AA P.G.A Golf Professional Robert Hunter turned Pro in 1979. Rob’s first attachment was at the Forest of Arden Golf and Country Club where he was involved for four years before moving to Maxstoke Park Golf Club in 1983. Rob remained at Maxstoke for twelve months, before going on to join the John Reay Golf Organisation in Coventry. It was at this time he established the Robert Hunter Golf Schools, which are still going strong, thirty-two years later.
1986 saw the big change to Rob’s career, when he became P.G.A Golf Professional at the Windmill Village Golf Club. Rob is honoured to be able to say that the course was both designed and developed by himself, and he remains the Golf Professional to this day. After 30 years at the Windmill Village, Rob has been able to forge strong relationships with our members, and his expertise and knowledge of the game of Golf has helped develop the skills of hundreds who have passed through the Windmill doors over the years. Rob is always on hand to welcome visiting Golf Societies to the Windmill, and takes pride in showcasing what the course has to offer.
As well as designing the Windmill Village course, Rob also set the Course Record in the 2001 Windmill Open, where he shot a seven-under-par 63. His Golfing achievements also include being tied with Sir Nick Faldo, on fifteen-under-par at the 1988 Wilson Staff Players’ Championship at Tyrells Wood in Surrey.
When he is not out on the Golf Course, Rob is also a WSOR qualified Level 6 Rugby Referee. He has a keen interest in all sports, and is a real family man, spending time with his wife Amanda, and his three children.
